Adult psychiatric services at Sequence refer to those services which are offered under the care of a board-certified medical professional trained specifically in the treatment of mental health concerns and diagnoses. Psychiatrists are able to prescribe medication, should such treatment be warranted. In some instances, medication is prescribed in conjunction with therapy, which is at times the most effective at symptom reduction and long term improvements for chronic mental health concerns. Issues that may benefit from medication include:

• Anxiety
• Depression
• Bi-Polar Disorder
• ADHD/ADD
• Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
• Panic Disorder

Psychiatric services begin with a phone call with one of our psychiatrists to schedule your initial appointment.

Your first in-person appointment will be an hour-long session which includes a full evaluation of medical and mental health history, current life circumstances, significant historical issues, current cognitive functioning, and a review of symptoms that you or those close to you are concerned about.

If this evaluation leads to a treatment plan which includes medication, there will be follow up sessions scheduled to monitor how your symptoms respond to the treatment and to make adjustments as needed.

Your psychiatrist will maintain contact as needed with your mental health therapist and primary care physician as appropriate to ensure optimal care. In some instances, your psychiatrist may also offer ongoing weekly therapy sessions as a component of your treatment.

You may be treated by a therapist at Sequence and be under the care of a non-Sequence psychiatrist, our psychiatrist accepts referrals from therapists across the region, and Sequence therapists may refer to other psychiatrists as is deemed useful.

The therapists at Sequence do benefit from regular access to the Sequence psychiatric staff for general questions about medications, benefits, and side effects.
